An annual competition for short films about dementia.

Living With Alzheimer's Film Project started as a place to showcase four short new documentaries about how families persevere in the face of Alzheimer's disease. With funding from MetLife Foundation and in partnership with Cure Alzheimer's Fund, the Project recruited four world-class filmmakers Naomi Boak, Steve James, Megan Mylan and Roger Ross Williams to bring true-life stories about how individuals and families cope.

The second phase of the project started a year later as an online film competition where user-submitted films are judged on merits as a story, on technical achievement, and how well it conveys the urgent challenges of dementia.

Cohere got involved with this project at an early stage, creating visual branding and design language for the site, helping define the site's features and editorial parameters. We designed and built a visually rich film-viewing experience that doesn't compete for attention with its subjects and treats the underlying issue of dementia with respect it deserves.

We came up with a light-weight film browsing experience, a resource library, and a straightforward submission process that provided all the necessary tools to the site editors to list, feature and promore deserving entries.
